Our Christmas Donation to the Benjamin Foundation

At this time of the year, many businesses will be sending Christmas cards to their customers as thanks for their continued support. However, this year, we have decided that the cost of sending Christmas cards would be better spent on helping a local good cause. That’s why we have given a donation of £200 to The Benjamin Foundation.

About the Benjamin Foundation

The Benjamin Foundation was founded in 1994, following the tragic death of Benjamin Draper in a motorcycle accident at the age of just 17. Vanessa and Richard Draper, Benjamin’s parents, created the charity in his honour. Originally aiming to support people of all ages in north Norfolk, the charity now focuses on children, young people and families across Norfolk and neighbouring counties, employing over 200 staff to support 2,000 people every year.

As well as providing childcare, advice for parents, and support for young carers, The Benjamin Foundation works to prevent homelessness in local people aged 16-25. Over 100 young people live in the charity’s accommodation, where staff help them to get their lives back on track, supporting their education, training and careers as well as helping them to develop life skills such as cooking and budgeting.

Why we Chose the Benjamin Foundation

At RWD, we were keen to support a local charity this Christmas. The Benjamin Foundation’s work particularly spoke to us as we have a young team – half of our staff are in their early twenties (and the others assure us they are too!) We have also supported young people with work experience, and will be taking on an apprentice in the New Year. As a growing tech company, we care about young people at the start of their careers – and we know The Benjamin Foundation does too.

In this video, Jade, who lives at The Benjamin Foundation’s accommodation in King’s Lynn, talks about her experiences and what the charity means to her.

Chris Elliott, Marketing and Fundraising Manager for The Benjamin Foundation, said:

“We’re delighted that RWD has chosen to support us with their donation.  At a time when funding from other sources is under threat, donations by kind supporters like RWD are even more valuable. It will help us continue the support we provide to around 2,000 children, young people and families in Norfolk and Suffolk. If any other businesses are looking to support a local charity in 2017 then I’d love to hear from them by phone (01603 886933) or email (chris.elliott@benjaminfoundation.co.uk).”

We are delighted to support The Benjamin Foundation this year – and we will still be sending our clients a Christmas message, in our own special way. Keep an eye on your Inbox!
